Steve MartinEntertainment and Professional Poker Celebrities gathered at the Golden Nugget, on Friday and Saturday, to support two very worthwhile charities. It was the first Texas Hold Em Poker Tournament to benefit the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Pros for Africa. The Tournament was presented by World Poker Entertainment and Phil Helmuth. Some of the notables that were scheduled to participate in the Event were Steve Martin, Roy Williams, Lou Ferrigno, Bryant McKinnie, Verne J. Troyer, Curtis Lofton, Don Cheadle, Larry Johnson, Kevin Sorbo, Mark Clayton, Kenny Johnson, Chris Canty, Johnny Chan, Bernard Berrian, Joe Reitman, Larry Fitzgerald Jr., Howard Lederer, Adrian Peterson, Suzie Lederer, Annie Duke, Sam Moore, Liz Lieu, Michelle Lau, and Jordin Sparks.

Pros for Africa provides funds for missions in Africa so that the basic needs of African children can be provided for. The Starkey Hearing Foundation is a Non-Profit organization that was founded in 1984 and provides assistance to hearing impaired children around the world.

The Poker community has become very involved in charitable causes. Don Cheadle, Annie Duke, and Norman Epstein founded Ante Up For Africa holding a charity Tournament that coincides with the World Series of Poker. The 2010 charity tournament at the World Series of Poker was the fourth annual event. The Poker community has shown themselves to be extremely generous with their participation in these charitable events. So far the Ante Up For Africa non profit organization has raised over $3,200,000.00. Stars of the entertainment and the poker community have done a great job of working together to make these charity events a success.
