Poker player Joran van der Sloot reported as being in Peru for the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), has been questioned on suspicion of the murder of a 21-year-old lady in the capital Lima. The body of Stephany Flores was discovered in a hotel room in the city, registered to van der Sloot, he fled the scene, but was apprehended in central Chile.

Chilean police detained van der Sloot, but it is unclear whether he is to be returned to Peru for further investigations at this stage. Van der Sloot allegedly had travelled to participate in LAPT, but shortly before the poker tournament was due to get under way he had vanished from Peru. U.S. officials will be watching the case closely, as van der Sloot is the prime suspect in a murder case dating back to 2005 in Aruba, Alabama.

Police in Aruba arrested van der Sloot twice over the murder of pretty student Natalee Holloway. However, he and the two other suspects were released without charge due to insufficient evidence. The Holloway murder caused an outcry in the U.S, and authorities in Alabama had issued an arrest warrant on van der Sloot last Thursday. The warrant was issued after claims of extortion charges of $250,000, he had allegedly tried to collect, involving the circumstances surrounding Holloway's death and her remains.

The latest victim Flores was murdered on May 30th, eerily the exact date that Holloway disappeared five years earlier. Peruvian police revealed that the main suspect and the poor victim were seen in the same hotel casino at the weekend. The latest allegations will do nothing for van der Sloot's reputation, whom is considered a thoroughly disgusting individual among the poker fraternity. Some of the reputable poker forums have carried out personal investigations into the online identity of van der Sloot, and his poker identity has been published in many forums, who feel this character has blackened the name of the decent poker players.

Meanwhile in Chile, van der Sloot appeared smug as he was escorted by officers to a police station for questioning by two police officers. Hopefully, this time the despicable man will face the justice he deserves.
