2010 has been an exciting and fast paced year for the World Poker Tour and it ended with a bang after over 200 hands of play. The first player to be eliminated was Moshin Charania, who had a nearly identical chipstack to Keven Stammen who knocked him out of the tournament. The hand in question was pocket sevens against pocket eights. Holding less than a big blind, Charania was then knocked out of the tournament holding 6-3 by Tom Marchese who had a full house. Charania walked away with $104,000.00.
Even though he had won Charania’s chips, Stammen ended up in a nasty situation when he moved all in with A-10 against Dave Inselberg who called him with A-Q. Both players paired their kicker with Inselberg out in front. Inselberg’s lead was then compounded by rivering another queen for a set. Stammen finished in fifth place to walk away with $128,000.00. Nikolai Yakovenko finished the World Poker Finals in fourth place with a bad beat. Yakovenko held pocket aces and moved all in with a flop of K-8-7, only to find that Inselberg had flopped two pair with K-8. A 3 on the turn and a 9 on the river did not improve Yakovenko who took home $170,000.00. At this point Marchese held the highest stack at over four million while Inselberg held 2.4 million and
Forrest had under a million.
Inselberg and Forrest shredded Marchese, each doubling their chip stack in the process. Marchese and Forrest then went back and forth on double ups until Marchese went all in with A-K against Forrest’s K-6 offsuit. Forrest then flopped a six and neither the turn nor the river was enough for Marchese to come back. Marchese took down $211,000.00.
Heads up play between Forrest and Inselberg was fast and furious, lasting only ten hands. The final hand of the tournament concluded when Forrest went all in on a flop of 9-8-5 with 9-6. Forrest showed pocked queens and ended up with a set on the turn. The river card was no help for Inselberg’s gutshot straight draw. Forrest went home with $548,000.00 in winnings while Inselberg took home $325,000.00. Forrest also received a free entry in the $25,000.00 end of the season World Poker Tour at the Bellagio.
