Home - Latest News - Racener or Mizzi. Who Do You Believe?
In the days of the old west, issues of this nature would have been handled by the parties involved with a six shooter. In the technology plentiful day that we live in it is handled on the web with forum postings. What happened is that two very successful tournament poker professionals were playing a game of Chinese Poker during the recent PCA Event and one of them has accused the other of cheating by dealing from the bottom of the deck. The really interesting part of all of this is that we are talking about two players that have both been very successful on the tournament scene. The accuser, John Racener, finished second at the Main Event of the World Series of Poker and has lifetime tournament winnings of $7,696,017.00 and the accused, Sorel Mizzi, holds 18 career titles and has lifetime tournament winnings of $5,102,652.
These days you would be hard pressed to find a situation where players deal the cards themselves. Certainly this could not have happened online and most casinos provide dealers for their games. In this instance these two players were playing a side game against each other. Racener accused Mizzi of dealing himself a joker from the bottom of the deck. The accusation actually was made second hand by Shaun Deeb via a posting on an Internet poker forum. Racener has since commented on this situation by verifying that it did in fact happen but that it was being resolved by the two of them and that he considered the matter to be closed.
Mizzi has responded by saying that he did play Chinese Poker with Racener but that he did not cheat in any way. Mizzi also stated that he felt that the public would consider that he was guilty of any accusations that were made of him.
