Phil IveyThe TV show called High Stakes Poker has been quite a success over the years. Poker players and regular people have been given a glimpse in to the lives of the truly high stakes poker professionals. It is hard for most people to relate to the way these poker professionals play for pots that have at times exceeded $1,000,000.00. For us average people it is also amazing to watch how casually these players appear during these sessions of nose bleed limit poker. While most of us would be petrified to be playing for such large amounts of money, these players are having casual conversations and constantly trying to make things more interesting with Prop bets.

Big Changes

The seventh season of the TV show will begin on February 26th at 8:00 PM EST. It will be broadcast on the Game Show Network. This year, however, there are going to be a number of big changes and it is going to be very interesting to see how well the show holds up through it all. The first major change is that the show will no longer be hosted by Gabe Kaplan and the person that is taking his place is Norm MacDonald, known to most from his comedy on Saturday Night Live. MacDonald admits that he does not have the poker knowledge and experience that Gabe Kaplan has. The other really big change for the seventh season of the show is caused by the fact that PokerStars became the official sponsor and, because of that, Full Tilt Poker has asked that their sponsored professionals do not participate.

This means that we will not be seeing so many of the players that we have become accustomed to watching during the first six seasons. There were a lot of regulars in the first six seasons that will not be playing in the seventh season such as Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Jennifer Harmon, Mike Matusow, Gus Hanson, Allen Cunningham, and Patrik Antonius.
