Genting Poker Introduction

While Genting Poker is new in the online scene, they are not new to the poker business. The site was founded in 2008 by the Genting Group, which began in 1965 and has run land based casinos ever since. Genting Poker is one of the more recent additions to the iPoker Network. Although it is not yet a household name, Genting Poker is growing rapidly and will soon be on the radar of many poker players. There are six games offered by Genting Poker which include Texas holdem, Omaha hi, Omaha hi lo, 7 card stud, 5 card stud, and Razz. The stakes here range from as low as $0.01/$0.02 to as high as $300/$600. The traffic is somewhat less than at many of the larger online poker rooms, although you should have no trouble finding games at the micro to mid range limits. However, finding games higher than that may be a little more difficult.

Simply put, the players at Genting Poker are pretty bad. This is in large part to the fact that traditionally tougher American players are prohibited. Genting's reputation in Europe as a casino also draws recreational gamblers to the site. The bottom line is, if you are looking for good opportunities you will certainly find them at Genting Poker.

Besides traffic, the biggest benefit Genting Poker receives from the iPoker Network is access to their Playtech software which is considered by many to be the premier poker software in the world. Playtech makes playing at any iPoker skin easy and enjoyable. The client has nice graphics and is fast, and quite possibly the most reliable one that you will find.

Unfortunately, Genting Poker is only available for the Windows operating system, meaning that Mac and Linux users will have to run some PC emulation software. Also, there is no web browser "instant play," so there is not much flexibility in terms of software. However, it is worth noting that other iPoker sites do have Mac compatible software, so there is the possibility that Genting Poker may add a Mac version in the near future.

Genting Poker Promotions

Like almost every other online poker room, Genting Poker features a rewards program known as the ‘VIP Programme’. The VIP Programme rewards its players with VIP points, which are earned by playing in real money tournaments and cash games. You will receive 21 points for every $1 you pay in tournament fees and approximately 6 points for every $1 of rake in ring games.

The more points you earn in a given month, the higher your VIP level will be. There are ten VIP levels, and the higher your level, the bigger your points "boost," which increases the number of points that you earn each hand. Your VIP points can also be used to purchase cash rewards of up $150,000. Unfortunately, points can not be used to purchase tournament tickets or merchandise from an online store at this time.

There are other promotions at Genting Poker as well, such as satellites for large live events including the World Series of Poker and the Manchester Poker Open. Sadly, Genting Poker does not take part in any of the progressive jackpots offered at many of the iPoker Network sites.
